1989 Honda Civic starting problems?

here's the story: my cold air intake came into contact with one of the battery terminals and it shorted (this has happened before). when i was finally able to check it out a month later (on a military mission) i got the battery charged while i borrowed a friends Metrinch tool set to take out the lower support bracket for the alternator since it probably hasn't been removed since it was put in. the alternator passed at the auto store but the battery didnt have a charge. no problem... i got a new battery and installed it. i figured while i had my friend's tools i could use them to finally take off my distributor and change the o-ring that was bad. i was able to install it back in with the dist. rotor in the right angle. now i know that you need a timing light to get the dist. itself at the right angle but it should start from what i was told, but it won't. any ideas? (i told the battery/alternator story just in case it had something to do with it, which i dont think so)

im almost 100% sure... your firing order is off. if you took the distributor off... its hard to get the dizzy off without taking the plug wires off. and tough to remember where they went.

check this... and tell me it started?

if not.. then yes.. the ignition coil.... not the module.. has gone bad... roughly 65 dollars at any parts store. while your in there replacing that... replace the cap and rotor...
