Ever wonder how the idea for the big rig came into being? More likely than not, it had something to do with the horse. Horses provided a height advantage to those early pioneers of the plain, allowing the rider to sit tall in the saddle and survey the surrounding landscape. Now, imagine a cowboy jumping up into the saddle. Laughable, isn't it? That's why a saddle has stirrups.
Motoring is one of the many joys in life... or at least it should be. But, when you and your passengers have to haul yourselves in and out of a raised rig, your joy can be seriously diminished. Plus, you risk the possibility of injury when adding slippery pavement or uneven ground into the mix. Luckily, convenience and safety are literally only one simple step away.
Side steps, also known as step bars or truck steps, are made of durable aluminum or stainless steel and feature treaded pads to provide a non-slip surface for stepping in and out of your cab. These treaded pads also channel water away from the stepping area, providing safe, all-weather traction when the ground beneath offers anything but.
Truck running boards and step bars provide an additional benefit: protection for your bodyline. Whether you're off road or sitting in the parking lot, everything from boulders and fallen trees to car doors and shopping carts threaten to dent or scratch your finish. A side step or running board provides the first line of defense, stopping the worst of these before they reach your exterior.
A side step and its dressed-up cousin, the running board, are custom-tailored to your make, model and year. On average, they're constructed from 3" metal tubing and come finished in a polished, chrome or black powder finish, adding a solid look to the exterior of your vehicle. Step bars support up to 300 lbs and running boards up to 500 lbs, each providing the reliable durability required for frequent use. Plus, they're available with add-ons like optional lights for those looking to add some extra flash.
If these options sound familiar, they should. They're the exact same thing your dealer tried to sell you as part of their "sport" package...their expensive sport package. Aftermarket running boards and truck steps allow the do-it-yourselfer to upgrade their rig with the same factory-style products for a fraction of the cost. They come with all the necessary mounting hardware, and most bolt right into pre-existing mounting positions on your frame with no drilling needed.
A side step or running boards dress up the appearance of your vehicle and give it a sportier look. Similarly, truck running boards provide a step up into raised vehicles, delivering both safety and convenience.
Why is it important to pay heed to staircase while remodeling a House?
Do you want to change the way your home looks? If yes, house remodeling - the cost-efficient alternative to a complete reconstruction – should be the first choice. A house is a long-term asset and changing it frequently is neither feasible nor affordable for everyone. However, house remodeling can help in changing the way it looks, thus equaling to a change. In house remodeling, remodeling is done on a part or parts of house like basement, attic, living room, etc by opting for latest designs, materials or styles.
Staircase Remodeling
Staircases are the focal points of a house. Remodeling a staircase is a good idea to change the way the home interiors look. Many people ignore the design of their staircase while purchasing a house or building one. But, they can certainly change the look of the staircase later with house remodeling. There are many aspects of remodeling a staircase – changing the material by which it is made of, changing its design, its handrails, its carpet, etc.
How to Remodel a Staircase
Consider the following things while remodeling a staircase -
- Choose a style of a staircase that looks attractive and matches with your home décor. You can take help from the internet, magazines or experts to find latest designs. A staircase can be straight, spiral or round.
- Find out if any demolition needs to be done for fitting the design of your choice. Demolition may require taking help of experts like architect, interior decorator, etc.
- House remodeling may even require installing a new staircase where there was none, for a better impact. If you are installing a new staircase then look for the right location to place the staircase, so that it not only looks good but remains functional as well.
- Remodeling a staircase can be expensive, as you may have to invest in new components and accessories such as carpet, spindles, handrails etc.
A staircase can be Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian, or contemporary and can be made from glass, wood, aluminum etc. The design and style of a staircase should be chosen on the basis of its functionality or the tastes and preferences of the inmates.

How much is a 388 chevy sb worth? ?
late model 5.7(350) 1 piece rear main seal block. It is .060 over with flat tops. Has Eagle rotating assembly. 882 heads, ported with 2.02/1.60 valves, 1.55 roller rockers, guide plates. Matching black/orange breather, valve covers and timing cover. Chrome oil pan Mallory wires, Accel plugs. Also included are water pump, fuel pump, 3 groove crank pulley, water pump pulley, fan blade and spacer, alternator and bracket, chrome water neck, flexplate. 400 plus horsepower. Engine is ready to drop in, adjust vavles and go.Less than 500 miles on engine. I'm thinking about trading a 1986 fiero gt for the motor. Would this be a good motor?
Do the trade. While the Chevy can handle significant overboring, 0.060 is too much. The only exception might be if it were a newer "racing" crate block from Chevrolet, or it happens to actually be an older block with updated parts. That aside, you made some beautiful choices on parts, IMO; worth about 1500 to 2000 bucks, in resale condition. These friggin things are so interchangeable, your potential buyers are many; so you shouldn't have to 'settle' too much on price.
The fiero V-6 is okay, just okay though. They are are similar to the GN/GNX motors. In other words these motors can be just as fun if not more, when turboed.
