Question for Mopar mechanics.?

I am from a Chevy background where the same block was used for everything from the 265 thru the 400 so I am not too familiar with the mopar families of engines. Are the 318 and the 340 built on the same block?
Can a 340 be made from a 318?

yes a 340 can be made from a 318,,i owned one that i converted because i blew up the 340,,bu tall the part,s except for a rod and piston was use able,,it ran as good as a 340,,and is still holding up,,mopar was pretty good about not changing thing,s around too much,,basically all the small mopar blocks,,were started from the 273 plat form,,by the way the 273 was a wicked little motor for it,s time,,what most people don't know is that the old Canadian 318 cu in engine was actually a wide block ,,which confused a lot of people,,when they seen the 2 side by side,,yeah,,I'm a mopar nut,,own a 1971 challenger rt with a 340 six pack,,also have a 71 hemi challenger,,hope this help,s.,,and no,,there not for sale.
