Here are some more information for Cam Lifters Pushrods:

When you start your car engine in the morning, sometimes you will hear some sort of tapping sound coming from the engine. The sound will disappear after the engine has warm up. This is quite normal on some cars but if the tapping sound continues as long as the engine is running, then there is something wrong with the car engine.
As the engine rpm increases, the sound will also increases and when the engine rpm slows down, the tapping sound also decreases. If you open the hood, you can hear that the loudest sound comes from the top of the engine.
Stuck hydraulic lifters caused most of the sounds that you hear coming from the top of the engine. The hydraulic lifter or also known as hydraulic tappet or hydraulic lash adjuster is designed to take up the normal expansion and contraction during the heating and cooling of metals in the engine.
The lifter is also designed to maintain zero valve clearance in an internal combustion engine where it ensure the valve train always work with zero clearance for a quieter operation and at the same time to ensure periodic valve clearance adjustment is not required.
If one or more of the lifters are stuck or jam, tapping sound will occur. If the sound lasts for a couple of seconds or minutes, then frequent oil change could free up the jam lifter. If the sound continues, then the lifter will have to be replaced.
If you notice that when the engine is giving out tapping sound and comes with heavy vibration at idle or on heavy load, one of the valve push rods or rocker arms has broken. To confirm this, get you mechanic to remove the rocker arm covers to check on the rocker arms, push rods, and the valve stems. Normally by replacing the rocker arms and bolts, the tapping sound problem can be repaired.
If the tapping sound is accompanied by a muffled backfire when you accelerate, there is a high possibility that the engine camshaft has damage. This require major repair because you also need to replace all the hydraulic lifters. Make sure that your mechanic checked the camshaft thoroughly and confirmed faulty before you start the repair.
If the tapping sound is due to broken rocker arm or push rod, you car will suffer from fuel wastage, poor performance and also high emissions of Carbon Monoxide to the atmosphere.

Mercedes Benz Valve Cover Gaskets: the Best Protection From Engine Leaks
Mercedes Benz cars are known for their technological innovations and their emphasis on safety. They were the first to introduce the safety cage, anti-lock brakes, airbags and traction control, to name a few. These safety features are standard in every Mercedes car. Daimler Benz AG, the company that used to produce Mercedes Benz Cars was formed from the merging of two companies namely Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft (DMG) and Benz & Cie in June 28, 1926. These two companies started to work together due to the arising need that rooted from a troubled German economy during the World War 1. They finally merged in 1926 and became Daimler-Benz AG. Today, Mercedes-Benz cars are already owned by DaimlerChrysler AG.
Proper maintenance is still the best way to go when there is a need to keep a Mercedes car at its best. One way of maintaining is keeping its engine away form leaks. An one common source of leaks is the a damaged Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket.
The Mercedes valve train is composed of the rocker arms, valve springs, push rods, lifters and cam. It is covered by the valve cover wherein oil is pumped up through the pushrods and dispersed underneath in order to lubricate the various parts of the engine Aside form this, the valve also protects the various valve train components, particularly the valves and the rocker arms, from various damages. Because of these important functions, the valve cover must be oil-tight because it is often the source of oil leaks. This is where the valve cover gasket comes in. The Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket further ensures a better tightening of the seal between the valve cover and the cylinder head. Valve covers are meant to be removable for easy access to the valves when they need adjustments. Each time that the valve cover is removed, however, there is a need to replace the valve cover gasket with a new one
A Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket is located beneath the valve cover. It is basically a metal lid that sits on top of the cylinder head. Mercedes valve cover gaskets act like sealants between the cover and the engine with the purpose of preventing the oil form leaking out. While doing this function, they also keep dust and debris out of the engine at the same time. It is when they become saturated that the oil from the engine begins to leak. Most of these contaminants and build-ups are dirt, carbon, dust and even old gasket residue. The rule of thumb is, the more often you have an oil change, the lesser the amount of build-up that can occur which can cause saturation. Moreover, it is common for a valve cover gasket of an older engine to develop a leak and does not pose a serious problem. Its replacement is a minor job, but it should be immediately attended to. The number of valve cover gaskets depends on the type of engine your car has. Some engines have as much as four valve cover gaskets. The most durable valve cover gaskets are believed to be those made of silicone. Valve cover gaskets made of rubber and cork are also available. Improper installation of the Mercedes Benz valve cover gasket is usually the cause of oil leaks. Another cause is the warping of the valve cover or the damages it incurs during removal and replacement. For some cars, a smell of burning oil in the cabin is usually an indicator of a leaking valve cover gasket or cam chain tensioner gasket. There may also be an accumulation of oil on the belly pan and various engine components. Symptoms also include the presence of oil on top of the cylinder head and near the spark-plug connections.

what should the compression be on a 1969 440 hp?
all stock but cam and intake/carbs it catches on fire when you try to start it i checked the timing its dead on i checked that all the rockers are moving and seem to be closing all this with the dual quads 650's so i was thinking it was the intake and carbs so i swaped it with the one that was on it single 750 and it does the same thing just not as big of a fire the heads are brand new well new rebuilt they sat on the shelf for 2 years before they got to the car but in a heated shop with them covered with plastic so i dont think it would be the valves as they are new, new seats, springs for the cam thats in the car also new lifters and pushrods that match the cam im at a loss. but noticed that with the 750 it will run a little but really really bad as in missing and poping and wont idle, stay running unless its at a high rpm now that i think of it it was doing that in the first place thats y i tore it down and got new heads
Have you checked the valve timing? Here's a quick easy way to do it.
Put the engine on TDC (zero degrees) by the timing marks. Have the valve covers off.
Both number one or number six cylinder will be on TDC. One will be at TDC on the compression stroke, the other will be at TDC exhaust stroke.
The cylinder on TDC exhaust will be in "overlap": This is a time when both the intake and exhaust valves are both open for a very short time.
Rock the engine crankshaft back and forth with a large socket on the front pulley (harmonic balancer)
The rocker arms on the cylinder in overlap should go back and forth, one closing as the other opens, both going down equally at TDC.
If this doesn't happen, your valve timing is off. Check for a bad timing chain.
