I am knowledgable of basic automotive reapairs. But have not been doing it really in couple years, and I took my van out earlier today, no problems started and ran great as usual. I got back home shut it off, went to go back out with it and tried to start it up and it made really loud grinding noise while just cranking it, and shook the whole van. I tried it a couple times, the same result. had my father in law look at it, and he had me pull timing cover off, but everything looked fine, tight belt etc. He then though it could be the starter went bad. I pulled that out and am ready to get another from a junk yard for $35.00 so what do you think? I didnt mess with anything except hooked up a horn the day before on it, one wire grounded to frame, other to thiner battery wire, both leading to old rear wiper button I hooked it up to. Dont think that it screwed up anything with the starter wires there though. what are your thoughts, people with experience only please leave feedback?
