What is the best car for highway driving?
1. I drive 70 miles a day round-trip to and from work (I have the car on cruise control all the time, except when it's raining). We also takes lots of long driving trips. Rarely do we drive around town except to go to the store or go out to eat.
2. Current car is 2000 Chevy Malibu LS; mileage is 146,125; all routine maintenance required only; no major problems so far; still has original factory alternator (but with it being a Chevy it may poop out tomorrow, it may poop out in another couple of years)
3. My budget for the next car is $15,000 - $18,000 (the lower, the better)
Need a car that will last for at least 150,000 miles (preferably more)
If it ain't broke. If you like the Chevvy get another one.

To the Z34 owners with the high idle problems. I had the same thing happen to my 93. I would check all your vacuum lines, not just the rubber lines, but the plastic tubing also. I had a cracked plastic line that drove me nuts until I found it.
