Here are some more information for Civic Timing Belt:

Have you noticed how you see more older Honda Accords being driven than any other type of car? It's a stretch to find a 1989 Chevy Monte Carlo or a 1992 Ford Taurus driving these days. However, Accords seem to have longevity. Blame it on their reliability and high resale value, as well as true driver loyalty to the Honda brand. You can't kill these cars.
The Honda Accord has long been known for its trustworthiness, ever since 1976 when the model was born. The car has beat out the competitors (including Toyota Camry) with solid ratings across the board for safety, reliability, resale value, design and family friendliness.
Drivers who bought their Honda Accords in the 1980s find little reason to sell them, since the Accord lasts so long if properly maintained. After a few repairs and replacements (most occurring at the 100,000 mile mark), like timing belt, water pump and axles, owners have put as much as 300,000 miles (or more) on their Accords and continue to get great use from the reliable vehicle.
A Look at the Accord's Best Years
The Accord is in its eighth generation currently. Some generations of the popular vehicle have lasted better than others, although there are Honda Accords on the road from all generations.
Fourth Generation
The Accords built between 1990 to 1993 were hearty, and we still see them out and about. This model bore a close resemblance to the Acura Legend, which gave it a more upscale feel for an Accord compared to previous generations. In 1993, the 10th anniversary of the SE model brought a special edition of the LX sedan with extra features.
Fifth Generation
Probably the most popular in terms of used cars today, the Honda Accords built between 1994 and 1997 still retain good resale value and are more reliable than your average 12 to 15 year old used car. This model got a facelift from the previous generation, with a wider body and a V6 engine introduced in 1995.
From New to Old
If you've owned a Honda Accord, you're likely to buy another one for your next car. Accord owners appreciate the vehicle's handling ability, and those that drive the coupe love the sportiness that still comes with great reliability and quality. Sedan drivers appreciate the roominess that allows for comfort for the whole family.
Looking to sell your Honda Accord?
Accords provide good resale value, with models from as far back as 1990 being worth at least $1200.

How To Maintain Your Honda Civic Or Honda Accord Engine
The mere mention of Honda brings back memories of their Premium cars- Honda Civic and Honda Accord engine. They are also the largest manufacturer of engines in the world and they use the highest grade of engine technology by using premium components in their products to provide products with superior performance. The Honda Accord engine and the Honda Civic engine are a testament to this.
It is a dream-come-true for most of us when we see a premium brand parked in our garage. Moreover, if the model is a Honda Civic or Honda Accord, it is a real achievement because both the Honda Civic engine and the Honda Accord engine will provide years of quality service if treated well. It is not enough just to own a car, it is essential for each one of us to know how to maintain it. Your car will run for a lifetime if you treat it just right. If any minor defects and problems arise, they should be rectified immediately or else you will have to face grave consequences.
Reasons for a car to breakdown
1. Accidents or factory defects that go unattended for a long time.
2. Insufficient time is given for the engine to cool down after driving long distances.
3. Left unattended for long periods
4. Long exposure to the hot sun and rough weather or not driven for a long time.
5. The parts start to become corroded, which leads to engine problems.
6. Lack of regular service and maintenance of your Honda Civic engine or Honda Accord Engine.
Honda Accord
Honda Accords use 4- cylinder and 6- cylinder engines. Their DX and LX models include 125 horsepo 4- cylinder engines. F23A5, F23A4, K24A4, K24A8 and k24Z2 are the 4-cylinder models used in cars, whereas the 6-cylinder models include J30A1, J30A4, J30A5 and J35Z3. All the engines offer maximum torque and are available with superior built-in air intake systems.
Honda Civic
Honda Civic is one of the series of compact cars manufactured by the Japanese giant, Honda. With all the upscale options and ingenious accessories, the car runs on a D17A1, R18A1 or a K20Z3 Honda Civic engine. The components used in these Honda Civic engines reduce friction, enable smooth functioning of air intake systems and ensure an effortless drive for the owners.
The K-series engines consist of VTEC systems; these have variable timing control in their intake cams. K20A3 is an example of a VTEC system enabled engine where only a single valve opens to circulate the air within the combustion chamber. This system works on both the intake and the exhaust regulators.
Now that you are aware of the engine's importance in a vehicle, how do you maintain it? Although the steps are mentioned in most of the manufacturer's manual, here are a few steps you must follow yourself to keep your Honda Accord engine or any engine in perfect condition.
Avoid exposing your Honda Accord or Honda Civic engine to extreme heat or sun. Although regularly changing the engine's oil is commonly recommended, do it as per the manufacturer's recommendations. Check the air filter, spark plugs, timing belt and other minor components and change them if required when you do maintenance work on your car. In this way, you will avoid any major damage.
Engine oil is the main ingredient to help with the lubrication and smooth functioning of the internal parts. The carbon deposits and sludge that accumulate over time spoil the functioning of the engine. The engine oil cleans all such deposits allowing uninterrupted operation of the engine. The oil pressure indicators of a Honda Accord or Honda Civic engine indicate the level of oil pressure in the car's engine. If you find that this gives a low reading, get your car inspected as early as possible.
Air intake and engine cooling systems
When your car stops or does not start the first thing you would do is open the front cover of the car to check the radiator. Be careful! Do not open the radiator when the engine is heated. There is a chance that the equipment will burst. Keep an eye on the coolant level. Before the indicator reaches the low point, add coolant to maintain the engine's temperature. Any leaks in the coolant chamber or frequent increase in the engine's temperature should be checked immediately. A clog or a dirt deposit could be the main reason for this. Another reason for frequent heating of the engine could be a non-functioning or damaged air intake system. The air intake system maintains the temperature of the engine by circulating fresh air into the engine.
About the Author
Extend the life of your Honda Civic engine and Accord engines by keeping all of the parts in order and well maintained. Some problems might give you a scare and seem overwhelming but you can decrease the risk of ruining your vehicle by regularly checking the engine, getting it serviced regularly and following the manufacturer's instructions.
honda civic lx timing belt?
do you need a timing gun or something for a 1992 honda civic lx or can you just put a belt on?
If my memory serves me correctly, this car you are referring to is disributor-less and there is no need for a timing light. If you have broken your timing belt or you fear the vehicle has "jumped" time......my best advice would be to take it in. Some vehicles have what we refer to in the industry as "close tolerance" heads. This means there is a small space between the valves in the head(when they are open) and the piston(when it is at TDC, or top dead center) If your car was to have "jumpd" time, there is a great possibility that you might have damaged the heads, bent valves, and worse case scenario, cracked a piston. On the other hand, if you just want to perform this timing belt change as preventitive maintanence, which is a GREAT idea for the reasons i listed previously, then get a manual, do EVERYTHING IT SAYS WORD FOR WORD, and take careful notice to the "hash marks on the cam gear/s(if it is DOHC) If you do this procedure correctly, it will save you money in the future and add many melies to the life of your car and you wont have the worry of your timing belt breaking, losing tension and "jumping" time, and the other problems associated with timing components. Also. we recommend this to all our customers, make sure to replace ALL the timing components(belt, and idlers, tensioner) And the biggest part of all.....is the water pump driven off of the timing belt??? If so MAKE EVERY EFFORT to REPLACE it while you have the front of the engine apart. This happened to me at my garage. I did a timing job on an Acura something or another, and about two weeks after i did the timing belt job, the vehicle came back with a leaking water pump, which, unfortanutley for me, was driven by the timing belt. So, after i striped it BACK down to change the water pump, i then had to pay the cost for another timing belt since it came into contact with coolant and i idnt want to have to worry about it in the future. Good luck and i hope this advice helps you out.
