How to remove a/c compressor mounting bracket on 1994 Chevy Silverado?
I have removed three 9/16 bolts from a/c compressor mounting bracket and am left with a screw with a torx head on it? I want to know what tool do I use to remove it? And what size if there is a size. Thanks.
Do you mean that there is a stud sticking out that looks like a torx bit on the end?
If so, this is known as an inverted torx. There are sockets available for this. They are numbered identically to the torx bits, with the exception of the sizes preceeded by the letter E instead of T. If you have an assortment of torx bits, match them up to the end of the stud. If it is the same size as a T6 torx bit, you will need an E6 socket.
The most common sizes you will run into on vehicles will be E6 & E8.
