Did you know that those who build search engine optimized websites generally all fail before their website is even online?
It's a sad but true fact and the main reason for this is due to their poor market research and keyword research. Before you even consider building a website you must check out whether or not the market your entering is one that you can succeed in.
To be successful you need to find a market that you can compete in. Building a site on health and fitness will never be successful. However in saying that you can dig deeper into that market to discover niches that you stand a chance of competing in.
In this example we will use remote control (rc) toys as our market. Our common knowledge tells us there are many different types of rc toys available so we decide that the best plan of action is to build several different sites on each type of rc toy.
* Site 1: rc cars - 1,109 visitors per day
* Site 2: rc helicopters - 663 visitors per day
* Site 3: rc airplanes - 451 visitors per day
* Site 4: rc tanks - 157 visitors per day
* Site 5: rc boats - 323 visitors per day
(Many of the above terms have a lower level niche. For example you could have gas powered rc cars. To keep it more simple I will only focus on the top level niche)
The visitor count for each of the above terms is pretty high. The fact is if I built my websites on those terms it would be very hard to compete. This is were the keyword research comes in.
There are a number of ways I can go about this but on this occasion the best option may be to try and compete for the specific models of each of those rc toys.
The benefits to this are huge. If I choose to compete for each model not only will it create a more specific search which I stand a much higher chance of ranking highly for, I can also offer product links to those models. (Through my affiliate link of course)
90% of people in the website building game are always chasing the higher searched for more competitive keyword terms.
I am more than happy to take the less searched for keyword terms. The less competition the easier it is to get visitors to my website.
Where do I find the various rc car models? Pretty simple...I visit google.com and type in rc car models or rc car model list. I then visit each site making note of the various different types of models.
In this example we'll take the RC10GT2 RS RTR W/ Radio. That means absolutely nothing to me but I can guarantee that if a rc car enthusiast came to my website he would know exactly what it is.
On the keyword research tool I place the term: RC10GT2
* rc10gt2 - 34 visitors a day
* setup sheets for rc10gt2 - 5 visitors a day
Pretty interesting results. That is only for one rc car model. In google there are less than 13,500 competing websites for that term. Most of those sites wouldn't even be optimized or have any external linking campaigns done for them.
Could I rank highly for that term? I would say most definitely yes.
Imagine if I have 40 different rc model keyword pages each getting about 20 visitors a day.
That will be over 800 visitors.
Now back to the start.
Site 1: rc cars - 1,109 visitors per day
That term I will never rank high for.
But by doing a little research I could find the keyword terms that will nearly provide me with those numbers of visitors. The only difference is that I can compete for those specific terms. Not only that, I can offer products on my site for each of those models. Thanks to how specific my keyword research has been the chances of converting those visitors into cash is much higher.

VW Fox - Made Out of Pineapples!
Volkswagen Fox - it's made out of pineapples don't you know?
I've reviewed so many cars over the past six months or so, that I may have been guilty of getting used to the thrills and spills of driving fast ones. If this is the case, my assignment this week brought me back down to earth - very slowly might I add - with a bump. The car in question is the Volkswagen Fox - the baby of the German manufacturer's fleet.
The car has a 0-60mph time of...wait...for...it...17.5 seconds. Top speed is 91mph and no there isn't a turbo attached to the puny 1.2 litre engine. Yet to lambaste the Fox for being slow and unexciting is to completely miss the point of the car. The giveaway is in the model name of the car I tested - the Volkswagen Urban Fox. You see in this time of petrol prices soaring, roads becoming more congested and the car being the global warming villain, the Fox could well be where the smart money lies when it comes to getting around town.
I don't like to use the word 'cheap' but there's no other way to describe the Fox, with prices starting at £6,430 to be precise (in the UK I should add). To get four brand new wheels onto the road, with a Volkswagen badge adorning your car for this money is quite simply a remarkable feat. The cost saving doesn't end there either, with the Fox falling into insurance group one - the cheapest banding around. Fuel consumption almost looks made up with combined urban and extra urban figures of 46.3mpg.
Blimey this is starting to make a lot of sense. The Fox is quite tall too, so despite the diminutive length, the driving position is not too dissimilar to that of a larger 4x4 vehicle. The advantages of making the car tall, aren't limited to the driving position, as headroom and legroom are also boosted by the extra inches up top. There's plenty of glass around the car, making all round visibility excellent and parking a doddle.
Outside of its favoured habitat things do go a bit awry with the Fox - particularly on the motorway. Now before you shout "the little thing's not meant for the big roads!" if we're being objective, there's going to be occasions when you're going to leave the big smoke and hit one of the multi-laned snakes cutting through the country. By-passing (no pun intended) the 0-60mph time, the Fox is - and I hate using this word as much as 'cheap' - slow. An overtaking manoeuvre requires the forward planning of a chess master and snooker champion all in one. Changing from fifth gear to fourth made little difference to my forward motion and worryingly, nor did a further shift down to third.
The tall sides also act as a pair of very large hands that grasp hold of every gust of wind or buffeting from a passing lorry, making the Fox a wee bit skittish in the outside lane. However, once off the motorway, the Fox feels far more assured navigating country twists and turns, thanks to a longer wheelbase than most in its class and wider track. In fact, rather than welding the accelerator pedal to the floor, a gradual motion combined with a neat gearbox brought great rewards in the great outdoors.
Parked up against it's rivals the Fox sits comfortably in the 'not ugly' bracket but struggles to make it into the 'pretty' range either. As with Volkswagen's other small hatchback the Polo, the Fox is subtly styled compared to its rivals, in this case the Citroen C1, Toyota Aygo and Peugeot 107. Yet there is something more grown up and civilised about the Fox when viewing it alongside the almost immature stylings of the other city cars.
An interesting fact for your next pub chatter - Volkswagen are committed to reducing the environmental impact of producing cars and are keen to promote recycling and greener vehicles. In the case of the Fox, it's built in Brazil where the Curana plant grows. Fibres of this plant from the pineapple family are mixed with a recyclable synthetic material which makes the material for the roof lining and rear parcel shelf. No the car isn't edible.
The Fox has been manufactured using the latest laser welding technology which means it's a very rigid car helping it garner 4 stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests and features ABS as standard. Optional extras include alloy wheels, air conditioning and a CD player.
The Fox has a big fight on its hands, not necessarily from its competitors, but from the car it replaces - the much loved, and cute Lupo. Either way, the evidence is clear. Next time I get behind the wheel of a 2.0 litre turbo'd monster, I'll be wishing I was a far sensible human being and was driving a Volkswagen Fox.

does anyone have any information about putting a 4.6 liter engine into a 87-93 fox body mustang?
i blew up my 5.0 liter and grabbed a used cop car for $500 and i want to swap it out with a 4.6 liter intercepter... i just can't find any information online about doing such a swap... anything anyone has to contribute would help immensely.... i am mainly concerned with swapping out the computers and electrical... thank you

Back in '94 when Ford introduced the SN-95 body style, the 5.0 liter was still offered up until the '96 model year, when the 4.6L was introduced. I don't know for sure, but I think the mounts are at least SIMILAR to your setup on the '94-'95 model years. That said, I think you would need to get mounts for a 4.6L equipped Mustang. One thing I KNOW FOR SURE, is that along with introduction of the 4.6L, the brake assist setup changed from the vacuum boost setup to the hydroboost setup, necessitated by the 4.6's taller valve covers. Another noteworthy piece of information, is the air inlet setup on a Mustang is on the RIGHT side of the engine compartment. On the police interceptor Crown Vic, it's on the left side, which means you would need to source out everything needed from a Mustang 4.6L air inlet system. I KNOW the two have identical intake manifolds. Now, there are still a lot of issues to iron out. Wiring harness, PCM, transmission. Is your 5.0L equipped with an automatic, or 5-speed? If it's a 5-speed, forget it. There would be too many other parts needed. The PCM for one (auto & stick cars use different PCMs). As a 5.0L 5-speed uses a T-5, the 4.6L 5-speed uses a T-45. To tell you the truth, you are WAY better off finding another 5.0L to drop in. From a monetary point of view, that $500.00 spent on the used cop car can easily triple, quadruple that amount or more, by the time you get everything needed to make the combo work. And the performance gain will be little, to imperceptible. Maybe even LESS, by the time all the work is done, unless BIG dollars are spent. Hope this helps.
Google Bans AdWords Help For Cloaking, Making It Hard To Help Advertisers
On July 1st Vanessa Fox and the team at Search Engine Land broke a story that Google was cloaking AdWords help page and ultimately had to ban the AdWords Help area from coming up in Google's search results. It turned out to be all the help pages cloaking, so Danny Sullivan asked why didn't Google ban all the Google help areas. I won't get into why Google didn't, Google commented on Danny's post ...
