When you are purchasing parts and putting together a turbo system, the blow off valve is a fairly important part of the system. Not only does it release all the excess pressure built up in the intercooler piping after the intake manifold closes, but a turbo BOV also creates a unique BOV sound, which can make your car sound like it's quality tuned and unique. The HKS Super SQV (SSQV) turbo blow off valve is a BOV every turbo tuner should consider purchasing, as this specific BOV has many benefits to its unique construction.

In 1994, HKS released the first blow off valve, the SSQV BOV, containing the "pull" valve design, which was unlike the usual "push" valved blow off valves turbo tuners have always used. The "push" blow off valves have been the traditional type of turbo BOV used and they allow pressure to build up until the valve spring cannot hold anymore pressure, or the valve reaches its threshold, and then pushes the excess pressure out of the valve.

HKS created a design with the "pull" valve system, found on the HKS SSQV BOV, which uses and alters the pressure to pull open a dual valve system. The primary valve is the smaller valve, which opens up during smaller pressure conditions. When heavier pressure conditions are encountered, the SSQV BOV will open the larger, secondary valve, which allows all the excess pressure out during heavier and faster driving conditions.

Having the pull valve system allows the HKS SSQV BOV to prevent leaking, even when the car is idling or under extreme conditions. This system also allows a cleaner, more solid BOV sound, as it releases all the pressure with a fresh tuned sound, once the valve is pulled open.

Ford to Introduce 2010 Mustang Model

For many years now people have looked to the Mustang to be one of the best muscle cars on the automotive market. For the past five years Ford has been using the same style and design that takes its cues from the late 1960’s model. But for the 2010 model they are switching things up.

Engineers and designers have improved the aerodynamics for the 2010 Mustang and redesigned many things. The basic theme of the Mustang has not been lost and still stays true to the inset headlamps and forward canted grille. The turn signals though have been repositioned into the pocket with the headlamps and seem to be slightly smaller.

The hood has been re-contoured and has been given the “power dome” in the center of it. When you look at the edged you can see that the hood and the fender have been partially concave to leave a ridge that travels back to the A-pillar. The entire leading edge of the hoods now is able to curve down to help the airflow around the nose and over the top of the vehicle.

One of the things that people did not like about the 2005 model was the interior because it was made with plastic and rather cheap materials. That is why in the 2010 model Ford got rid of these materials and instead opted for an aluminum dash and trim. It is now smooth and looks much more sophisticated.

Ford carried over the components for the drive train and suspension to this model. However, they did make some improvements on the V8 GT model. Paul Randle - the chief engineer - stated that the most current Mustang Bullitt has been labeled the best Mustang because it has the right amount of power and handling. That is why they chose it to be the baseline for the brand new GT model.

The 2010 Mustang GT will keep the three valve 4.6 liter V8 engine. It is now able to push out 315 horsepower and 325 pound-ft of torque. The air intake has been redesigned so that the fresh air will be drawn from behind the grille instead of from the wheel wall. The duct from the air filter box all the way to the throttle body has been redesigned and straightened to help reduce flow restriction. To make for a quieter ride they have added new sound installation.

There is one new feature that Ford will be adding to the 2010 Mustang. Electronic stability control will now become a standard feature on all models. It will default on the car. On the V6 Mustang model drivers will be given the option to turn this feature off. While the V6 model can switch it to a performance mode. The 2010 Mustang was debuted at the LA Auto Show and will go on sale in the middle of December.

replace pcv valve on 2002 ford explorer?

My 4.0 L V6 2002 Ford Explorer has this plastic casing on top of the intake manifold...some of the hoses (brake booster, etc) are actually connected to the plastic casing, now how can i replace my pcv valve?

The PCV Valve is not connected to your brake booster. If it were, engine oil and other debris would be pulled into the booster diaphragm and contaminate it and destroy it.

Your PCV Valve is located on one of your Valve Covers. The Valve Covers are the long metal "lids" that run the full length of your engine on either side.

Normally your oil cap is also located on one of the covers so you can fill your engine with oil when needed.

The part that you are looking for is normally made of plastic or metal, and it is seated in a rubber grommet in one of the valve covers. You will normally find a single rubber hose coming from it leading to either your air cleaner or a port on the intake plumbing. Normally located before the throttle body.

The PCV Valve itself, is a cylindrical object that is normally about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch round and about an inch to 1.5 inches tall with a single, (sometimes double) port at the top.

There is an object on your intake manifold, and sometimes also located below your throttle body, that does look like a PVC Valve. But its not. Its a simple vacuum port connector for access to manifold vacuum to operate things like your brake booster, and some of the emission control devices.
