The Honda Civic has been one of the most popular cars ever since its introduction to the American auto market way back in the 1970s. Factors that made this such an ideal car are its great reliability and superb fuel economy that truly saves drivers a lot of money at the pump. The 1992 Honda Civic was entirely redesigned and marks the 5th generation of the subcompact car. The overall size had been changed for coupe, sedan and the hatchback body styles. Also notable is that although the cars gave great gas mileage, the engines are also rather powerful allowing them to perform very well.

Trim packages available include the CX, DX, LX, Si and EX. Coupe body styles were offered with the traditional 2 doors while sedans come with 4. LX models mark a great move up in refinement for the 1992 Honda Civic. Most of these packages come with power accessories like windows and locks. Other standard features of a LX include tilt steering wheels, moon roofs, Cassette/CD players, enhanced speakers, power adjustable driver seats, automatic seatbelts, AC, and other additional items. The highest and most loaded package is the EX which comes with full power accessories, great choices of interior fabrics (possibly leather), and expanded center consoles. Si models were made as "sport" themed cars and came with the same features offered for the other high-end packages.

The available engines for these cars include a 1.5 liter four cylinder capable of 92 horsepower, a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder which gave up a little more horsepower and a less powerful 1.5 liter 4 cylinder which only gives up 70 horsepower. Basic models like the CX and DX came equipped with the smaller 1.5 liter engine. The Civic Si and EX sedan models came with the larger 1.6 liter engine. The larger 1.5 cylinder engine was standard on upper-level coupe models and was offered for mid-level sedans as well.

The standard transmission for most models is a 5 speed manual which gave the best fuel economy of all that were offered. There is also a 4 speed automatic which can be found on many of these cars as well. Some of the upper-level models were only offered with the automatic transmission. The great fuel economy ranged anywhere from 25 mpg in the city to a whopping 39 mpg on the highway. Compared with competitors like the Toyota Corolla the Civic gets just about similar fuel consumption numbers and beats many of the other cars in the segment.

Buyers looking for a reliable car that doesn't cost a whole lot to maintain and gets superb gas mileage must consider one of the 1992 Honda Civic models. The only real competitor that even holds a chance at competing is the Corolla and the Civic offers a few more refinements than even that car.

Pontiac engines for cheap?? will a 3.8 liter v6 fit in my grand am gt?? chicago illinois?

1999 pontiac grand am gt;; it has a 3.4 liter v6, but the engine is bad and i have to replace it, autozone will charge me $1,700 for a new 3.4 liter engine;; but i wanted to know of any junk yards here on the southside of chicago that i would be able to get a cheap used engine, i also have seen engines for sale on ebay, and was wondering if those were any good. but i wanted to know. will a 3.8 liter v6 from a pontiac grand prix fit into my grand am?? it would be cool to have more power

It will be fit. I have seen someone put a 3.8 liter supercharged from a Grand Prix GTP. If you get a 3.8 without the supercharger you will get about 20 more horsepower and 25 more lb.ft of torque. I dont think it would be worth it. Just go with the 3.4 and with a few mods you can get the 20 more hp. Just my opinion.
