Bosch (4501) FGR8DQI Platinum IR Fusion Spark Plug, Pack of 1 List Price: $9.33 Sale Price: $4.64 |
|
Boschácombines the best features of their +4 plug with the advantages of iridium.áThe Bosch PlatinumIR Fusionáplug fuses iridium with platinum, combining the superior properties of both materials into a singleáfine wire center electrode.á Additionally this plugáusesásurface air gap technology and 4 yttrium enhanced ground electrodes for both performance and extra long life.áThe fine wireáiridium/platinum center electrode (which isáheat fused into the extended ceramic insulator) reducesáthe voltageánecessary to jump the gap as well as reduces quenching.ááTheá4 ground electrode design not only provides multiple radial spark paths,ábut also the surface air gap designácreates optimal exposure of the air/fuel mixture to the enhanced ignition spark. The combination of an iridium/platinum center electrode and the yttrium -enhancement of the ground electrodes even further extends plug life.áThis plug is designed toágive exceptional performance, reach self cleaning temperature faster for quicker starts, smoother acceleration and increased fuel efficiency.á |

Nissan's high-performance GT-R returns for 2010 with 5 more horsepower for its twin-turbocharged V6.
The GT-R uses Nissan's 3.8-liter, all-aluminum VR38DETT engine. Although this 24-valve, DOHC V6 is loosely based on Nissan's familiar VQ engine, it has many advanced features, including a stiffer, closed-deck cylinder block; plasma-sprayed cylinder bores to reduce weight and friction; and an unusual wet/dry-sump oil system to ensure proper lubrication in high-g turns. Curiously, it does not use the sophisticated Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) system from the 370Z; it has variable valve timing on the intake cam only. Each engine is hand-built by a single technician in a special clean-room facility, to ensure precise assembly.
The 3.8-liter engine features two IHI turbochargers, each with its own air-to-air intercooler. The turbines themselves are made of stainless steel, to reduce mass and improve spool-up time. Each turbocharger feeds one cylinder bank, providing up to 10.2 pounds of boost. The turbochargers are integral to the exhaust manifolds, making turbo upgrades more difficult.
The GT-R's power output has controversial since its debut. In 2009, it was rated at 480 horsepower, which several reviewers discovered was significantly underrated. For 2010, Nissan rates the V6 at 485 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque, crediting the extra horsepower to unspecified engine refinements.
Whatever its actual output, the GT-R has ferocious acceleration, rivaling many sports cars that cost far more. Because it does not use variable-geometry turbochargers, however, there is some turbo lag, with power coming on strongest above 3,000 rpm. Despite its power, the V6 is reasonably civilized; some reviewers actually complain that it is too quiet, lacking sporty character.
The twin-turbo engine is inevitably thirsty, but its 16/21 EPA rating is no worse than the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, and better than the less-powerful Dodge Challenger SRT8. Premium fuel is mandatory.

Nissan Produces 3 Million Altimas in the US
Nissan released the first Altima in 1993 and has since sold millions of the sedan in the market. The Altima already has four generations made within 1993-1997, 1998-2001, 2002-2006, and 2007-present. Since the production of the midsize vehicle was relocated to its North American plant, and after 15 years of being in the US car market, Nissan North America has already produced 3 million Altima cars.
U.S. Manufacturing senior vice president Greg Daniels said, "The Altima plays an important role in Nissan's lineup, and we put a lot of discipline and skill into building each one. The Altima provides our customers a lot of value for the money, and we're committed to providing them with a high level of quality as well."
There are two Nissan Assembly plants in North America. These are Smyrna, Tennessee and Canton, Mississippi. The Smyrna was able to produce a total amount of 750 Altima cars up to this day. The Canton Plant also shared 600 cars. The Smyrna plant in Tennessee is known makers of the Nissan Maxima sedan, the Nissan Xterra SUV, the Nissan Pathfinder and the Nissan Frontier truck, while the Canton plant in Mississippi also makes the Nissan Armada full- size SUV, the Nissan Titan full-size trucks, the Nissan Quest minivans and the Infiniti QX56 full-size luxury SUV. Other Nissan car parts like lower air dam are also manufactured on some plants in North America.
Canada, Mexico and other countries around the US are also receiving Altima car made in its Smyrna Plant. The plant already produced an estimated amount of 20,000 Altimas this year. All these cars are distributed in the local market as well as to the other countries near North America.
Nissan Altima Sedan was one among the best selling Japanese car models in the US car market. Currently, Nissan Altima includes two new car types in its line up: the all-new 2008 Altima Coupe and the Altima Hybrid Electric Vehicle. The 2008 all-new Altima features new design and trimmings and was based on the D platform with the award winning engine part, the VQ-series 3.5L V6. The 2.5L 4-cylinder is also a standard for the new version. Matched with a 6-speed manual, the Nissan Altima also received the advanced Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) (TM).
In July 23 this year, the Japanese car maker passed another milestone, having produced 9 million cars since they started making Nissan cars for the US car market in 1983. To be exact, Nissan has already produced 9.02 million cars in the past 24 years.
