Sbc 355 pushrod broke 1985 iroc?
I have an older 350 block "1970" bored .030,i put on heads off a 327 similar to power pack.The heads had springs that was good to 500 lift, but with the cam i put in and the 1.6 roller rockers we did the math and it puts us up to around .515-520 lift. Everything was new,no used parts,the engine seemed to run fine.I drove the car about 10-15 miles bring the car back and i had a broken push rod.Could it be due to my springs being only 500 lift? i also dont know if the pushrods was guideplate compatible and not sure if that would make a diffrence.So now i bought new pushrods and new springs up to 600 lift but i dont wanna assemble this to keep breaking pushrods. Any help is apprecited.Thanks
look for coil bind on the spring when cam is at full lift also lok at rocker arm stud to see if rocker arm is binding at full lift that will bend/break pushrods. use a good chrome-moly pushrod with guite plates and a good set of roller rockers
