And finally.. boho. But really, when is this look not trendy? It seems to last season after season. Although, recently it has really taken off with the introduction of more fur into wardrobes everywhere. We are seeing fur jackets and vests- fur is even being used as the trimming on purses, shoes, and gloves. Which is divine for the winter season.. nothing is cozier than fur. Faux fur, to be specific.

I really love the cropped fur jackets that are popping up everywhere- especially the ultra trendy leopard printed ones. Now if I could successfully pull it off, is the question.

How do I Change Out my Rocker Arms?

Its a 4 bolt main 350 with I think 3/8" studs. If I remove the valve covers & rockers what problems can i run into? Is it as simple as unbolting the old rockers & placing the new on & tightening the nut & the ball? I'm replacing my 1.5-1 with 1.6:1 roller tip since I cant afford a cam swap.

You have 1 thing you need to check 1st..

Not all SBC heads in stock form will work with 1.6 rockers. The high ratio rocker moves the pushrod out some..

You know in your heads, the push rods pass through slots in the head. On some heads when you go up in rocker ratio, the push rod will rub against the slots..

So check for that clearance...

If you need extra clearance you can buy the tool to cut the slots out for about $40, but you really can't cut the slots out larger with heads on the engine.. You don't want metal dust/bits going into your lifter valley or heads.

Now to answer your question... Your studs are 3/8" dia. The adjuster nut holding each rocker is a 5/8" hex.

Once you loosen the nut, your valve will be out of adjustment..

You can't just tighten the nuts down... They are what adjusts how tight your valves are..

Here's how you adjust valves on a SBC engine..
1st let me tell you what to feel for then I'll type the order you have to adjust them in..

When adjusting valves on a hyd. cam You adjust them in order (see below) you spin the push rod by hand as your tightening the nut.. As soon as you feel push rod getting alittle harder to turn.. STOP.. Now turn the nut 1/2 round more..

Intake Valve Adjustment: ENGINE OFF!
#1 cylinder Intake Valve at full valve lift .... Adjust #6 Intake Valve
#8 cylinder Intake Valve at full valve lift .... Adjust #5 Intake Valve
#4 cylinder Intake Valve at full valve lift .... Adjust #7 Intake Valve
#3 cylinder Intake Valve at full valve lift .... Adjust #2 Intake Valve
#6 cylinder Intake Valve at full valve lift .... Adjust #1 Intake Valve
#5 cylinder Intake Valve at full valve lift .... Adjust #8 Intake Valve
#7 cylinder Intake Valve at full valve lift .... Adjust #4 Intake Valve
#2 cylinder Intake Valve at full valve lift .... Adjust #3 Intake Valve

Exhaust Valve Adjustment: ENGINE OFF!

Now just to point out.. Driver's side cylinders front to rear is #1, 3, 5, 7

Pass side is 2, 4, 6, 8

Full lift means turn engine over by hand (breaker bar on bolt in center of bottom pulley) watch the push rod, rocker and valve spring...
When the push rod comes all the way up, valve spring pushs down as far as it goes.. Thats full lift
