4.3 vortec fuel pump?
my truck wont start without dumping gas in the intake, it will then start and run/drive fine. i tested the pump and it only has 40psi. iunderstand it takes 59psi. my understanding is, it requires more fuel pressure to start the engine than required to run and drive the truck? because my problem now is backwards than ive had before, i replaced the fuel pump twice in the last 3 years, both times it would start fine but after running it would starve for fuel and bog or stall. if i didnt have enough psi to run/drive then, why would it start? and now why wont it start, but it will run/drive fine when dumping gas in the intake to get it started?

The engine, to run correctly needs not only the correct pressure but the correct volume or flow rate. Is the fuel filter new? Have you ever had the fuel injectors flushed? If it has a CPI (Central Point Injection) system the fuel injectors likely need replacing.
