BMW has officially released information regarding new BMW X5 which will be the model for 2011.It is scheduled to be debuted at New York Auto show. The X5 has always been one of the most dependable SUV's of all time and this new model definitely makes many excited before its arrival.

This vehicle is available in two petrol and two diesel versions. The previous 3.0 liter engine is replaced with 3.0 liter turbocharged inline six which is good for producing 302 horsepower and allows the vehicle to go from 0-100 KMPH in 6.8 seconds and it won't stop until it has reached the top speed of 235 KMPH. The consumption figures promise 100 kilometres for 10.1 litres.

On the other hand the X5 xDrive50i offers a 4.4 liter twin turbo v8 which replaced the previous naturally aspirated 4.8 liter v8.This engine is angry enough to produce 402 horsepower and thanks to this engine it takes this model only 5.5 seconds to reach 100 kilometres per hour before reaching a top speed of 250 KMPH. The fuel usage for this one is 100 kilometres for 12.5 litres.

Talking about the diesel side, BMW offers two turbocharged 3.0 liter inline six engines. X5 XDrive 40d is capable of producing 3.2 horsepower and reaches 100 KMPH in 6.6 seconds with a top speed of 236 KMPH. Average fuel consumption here is 7.5 litres for 100 kilometres. On the other hand X5 xDrive30d is able to produce 241 horsepower and allows 0-100 in 7.4 seconds.

Now all of these engines are mated with a sight speed automatic transmission which brings outstanding shifting dynamics, optimized effectiveness and highest degree of comfort. As reported by the company.

V70 Delivers New Engines, E85 Option

The third model to use the Volvo V70 moniker was officially unveiled by Volvo at this year’s Chicago Auto Show which was held on the second of February. Unlike its previous generations, the new Volvo V70 delivers with a new five-cylinder D5 diesel engine, a four-cylinder flex-fuel option, and a new top-end six-cylinder twin-scroll turbo engine, plus an E85 option.

The second-generation D5 five-cylinder diesel option integrated to the estate produces 185 horsepower and 400 pound feet of torque across its range. The D5 features a new electronically controlled turbocharger, engine management system and more advanced multi-point injection technology. The estimated fuel consumption is 6.5 l/100km with CO2 emissions of 173 g/km. The vehicle will be available in a FlexiFuel E85 alternative. The FlexiFuel model uses a four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that is quite capable of generating 145 units of horsepower.

The new Volvo V70 is an estate version of the second generation Volvo S80, which also incorporates significant Volvo S70 parts. The Volvo V70 shares the same metal sheet with its siblings however it uses Volvo’s new design direction that combines Scandinavian and modern styling. The latter can be reflected in its different bodystyles that include the grille and the front bumper. The dashboard and the majority of the interior of the car are basically the same, nonetheless.

“This segment has been our specialty ever since we invented it back in the 1950s," said Fredrik Arp, Volvo Cars President and CEO. As the estate version of Volvo S80, the Volvo V70 is not really a direct replacement for the previous model. The latest version is designed to compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5-Series estate versions while its predecessors were aimed at the class below.

The use of the Volvo V70 moniker suggests continuity with the automaker’s estate range. The estate is available in as front or all-wheel drive with manual, automatic or Geartronic, semi-automatic gearboxes. Just like its predecessors, there is an all-wheel drive only variant with raised suspension, plastic body cladding and an interior grab handle. This version was famed as the Volvo V70 XC for the older cars, but was later renamed the Volvo XC70.

Also followed from the previous generation was the use of 5 cylinder, 20 valve inline transversely mounted engines. All but the bottom range 2.4 employ turbochargers with either low or high pressure depending on the model.

According to the automaker comfort is a major consideration on the Volvo V70. The seats use the orthopedic design to offer utmost comfort and support. Dual-zone climate control, high end audio equipment with the Dolby Pro Logic and sub-woofers are available on all models.

The Volvo V70 is also equipped with driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags as standard features. Also featured on the front seats is the WHIPS whiplash prevention system. It also features the BLIS blind-spot sensor system that is designed to detect vehicles within its “blind spot.” As a Volvo vehicle, the V70 use headlamps that are designed to provide extra visibility. The vehicle got five stars in the NHTSA safety testing.

94-95 Honda Civic ex 1.6 V-Tech Automatic, worth putting turbo?

Hi,

My brother recently acquired (mechanic's lean) a 94-95 Honda Civic EX 1.6 V-Tech Automatic transmission with 120,000 miles. I'm thinking about using this car as an everyday car. I don't have any experience with turbo's, so is it worth putting a turbo in this car?

Car is clean with complete overhauled engine, about $1,400 just in parts. When I drive it on the express way it's slow to pick up (compared to my Toyota Celica 2.2L). I drive around 70mph on the expressway and up a lot of hills.

Would a turbo help with overall pick up? Not looking for a race car just better pick up when I have people in the car. Since money is tight I need something better on gas. Would a turbo help?

A mechanics lien only gives him the right to hold the car until the bill is paid. It's not his car until he applies for and receives a new title. Don't spend a dime on it until he gets the title. Actually you may be breaking the law by simply driving it; the lien doesn't give him the right to use it.

A turbo will add some power but won't increase the mileage and will probably decrease the mileage if you use the added power.

How about a wagon?
